Call WJER Radio for tickets at 330.343.7755. Hurry! Tickets are complimentary but go very quickly. Sherrell Crilow a Tuscarawas County Ohio native will be our featured artist. You have the opportunity to watch Sherry as she works on a commissioned piece through the Belden Brick Company. Her exhibit will be located at the ECO-BIA booth in the center food court area of New Towne Mall in New Philadelphia. Clay is Crilow's chosen medium because of its tactile and limitless qualities. She has to touch everything she sees to get a better feel or understanding of it. The fact that clay can be manipulated in so many ways is intriguing to her. It is cold and soft, dry and hard, tough or delicate, pliable yet firm. It can be carved, assembled, modeled or thrown. "The possibilities are amazing and endless", says Crilow. How exciting to watch Sherry sculpt enjoying her challenges of showing depth in low or bas relief which she accomplishes with the play of light and shadow across the surface of the clay. The slant or angle of the objects is important to show overlap and depth. Textures enrich the surface by making each item look different. She has had articles and work published in Schools Arts, the Antique Motorcyclist and the Antique Motorcycle, and most recently the Antique Motorcycle Club of America Fifty Years of Fun.
